Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary

Surrounded by rainfed, arid land from all facets, this small flora and fauna sanctuary of Hingolgadh is a preferred habitat for Chinkara, blue bull, and a huge amount of resident and migratory birds. This sanctuary has a special significance because of dry, thorny forests and grasslands here. Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary performs an important role in the ground water conservation through recharging aquifers in the region. Declared as a sanctuary in 1980, the place has a high academic and recreational fee.

The sanctuary is regulated by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation. There are 50-100 Nature Education Camps organized through the authority every year. The individuals are typically college students.

The Wildlife at Hingolgadh Sanctuary

Due to the presence of grasslands and scrub forests, the sanctuary features a diverse wildlife. The most famous natural world species are Chinkara (a herbivore), Nilgai (Blue Bull), Indian porcupine, Indian hare, Mongoose, and so forth. Wolf - the top predator of the grassland is the main carnivore with Hyenas, Jackals and many others. The unconfirmed presence of a leopard has been suggested once in a while by the area people.

The sanctuary is remarkably rich in birds, with 230 species. The entire sanctuary is full of melodies of chook chirping. The huge businesses of bulbuls entice everybody's attention with their metal calls. Another interesting fowl is the Weaver chicken whose presence is most seen in the shape in their common striking nests. The sanctuary has 19 species of snakes of which three are venomous and 16 non-venomous.

Khambhalida Caves

Khambhalida Caves are historical rock-cut caves that are placed about 10 km from Hingolgadh. The caves date again to the 4th or 5th century AD and feature Buddhist sculptures and paintings. The caves also are a scenic region where you could see a waterfall and move near them.
